As part of the YCW plans to expand beyond our target areas of the North-West and North-East, we have been working to build new partnerships across England and Wales in order to see where we can collaborate more and grow our number of Groups.
One of the more recent areas we have been developing our collaboration with is Westminster Diocese. Our National President, Marc Besford, went down for a meeting with Caritas Westminster and Westminster Youth Ministry Team to discuss our Leadership Programme work and how we might help with their formation efforts and social action for young people.
It was also a chance to talk about how best we can best contribute to some of their current plans for youth engagement over the coming year, including training events, conferences and social action projects.
Marc Besford, commenting on the meeting said: “We began by discussing our shared mission of working with young people and I shared what the YCW does to develop confidence, leadership and faith within our Movement. By working through our SEE-JUDGE-ACT Method, we are able to give young people the means through which they can reflect on their reality but also set about taking action to change it, inspired by the Gospels and Catholic Social Teaching.
I want to say a big thank you to those who attended the meeting and I hope to keep building on our partnership with the teams down in Westminster. I also think we can use it as a model to help replicate similar work elsewhere in the country.”
